Abstract

The failure of the education of immigrant students could mean a nonreturn point in the progressive way towards equality which started up by coeducation and, most of all, by the comprehensiveness in the Secondary Education. The in-service teacher training, properly framed in an appropriate political, social and economical context, stands out as a key aspect for the achievement of an adequate education system which can lead to finding solutions to cultural diversity in the classroom, in which the concept of “interculturality” is one more relevant aspect for the education that all students should receive. The content of this paper provides the perception that teachers of Secondary Education in Tenerife show in relation to the educational model that should guide the acquisition of the intercultural skills required to include “interculturality” in the school curriculum.
